(Event #18 girls 1500)
Winning time of 4:20.81. 2:05.4 at 700 which means she covered the last 800 in 2:15.4 (first 800 probably over 2:22). Never seen this kind of race from her. A step in the right direction. So much for being “done” I guess.

How great must a negative split feel when you first discover it after years of pushing yourself to the limit from the gun?
So happy for her. Go Katelyn!
Nancy Haggerty tweeted a short video of her finishing and she was hardly exhausted after the race which was 3 1/2 36 sec laps and 4 34 sec laps. All smiles and hugging.high fiving the other finishers
all good as she still had the 4 x 800 coming up 1 hr later
Clearly a solid time. About 10 seconds off her 4:33 mile, though. The negative split is positive.

It's 6 seconds off her record-breaking 4:33.87. Running alone. No one but you and Rojo sees a problem with that.

Her 2:12 split is on par with her best ever 800 indoors. Very good day. Hope she has fun this outdoor season and heads to NC State in a good frame of mind.
She is going in the right direction. I have been long dismayed at her one-trick-pony tactics.
What does that mean?

Do you hope that Nico Young has fun this outdoor season and heads to NAU in a good frame of mind?
Of course he does. And he Hope's the same for Dudek and Methner and Hart and Starliper and Culpepper.
Good to see smarter racing from her.
But can she do it on a cold rainy day in Stoke ?

Recall she lost this race to Lawson 3 years ago getting outkicked even though she went 31.5 for the last 200 to finish in 4:25. While it is good to practice various tactics, in a race against the best she would still need to set a hard pace the whole race to either separate or wear them down.

do you mean that tactic of winning?

Why the dumb comment? This is a thread about Tuohy. Did you come onto this thread expecting people to not be commenting on her?
Good lord. If you want to discuss Young or anyone else, then start a thread about them.
I assume he means that some are treating her like a girl rather than an elite runner as is done with the top boys.

If I recall that was a week after the 5K record.
Perhaps we should post the articles of her successful races. The tactics did not lose that Millrose mile. The same tactics resulted in 4:33.87 outdoors. So what is your point?
She just did not have it that day, just like recently at NXN and the Sanders 3000. But then again, there are the other 95+% of her races where things seemed to work out ok.
