Shoes inherently should protect or correct but not much more.
No one argues that a facemask in football is performance enhancing. It just protects so you can keep playing. That’s what shoes should do.
Think you miss my point, all shoes provide a mechanical advantage over barefoot, exempt minimal which have a slight reduction.
Beside a football face mask always you to be hit harder for long, much like cushioned shoes. If you then have duel density or an air pocket or tpu shank/wave or each a player (nylon or carbon) you increase the the efficiency through the gait cycle.
Sure you might might to limit it but it’s there, then you have the various foams, more energy return through solid block. These will allow you to provide more or less force or and have slight mechanical advantage over a distance.
It’s wrong to say you don’t want mechanical advantage you should rather say you want to limit any and in that case go with a single density midsole with nothing else. Unless you are running a marathon you could probably use $5 store shoes which would meet your criteria. Sure you would probably need to buy a new pair after each race or just get want people ran in in the 60/70 a pair of pimsoles.
