I intend to be a 800m specialist
I'm pretty clear on the speed aspects of training for 800m but what I struggle with is the endurance-stamina side.
On the days when I'm not on the track I get in between 8k and 10k worth of easy distance work on the road.
I want to have at least one endurance-stamina oriented track work-out per week in my schedule.
What would this look like?
Should I do a tempo run of 3k or 5k?
Should I do 2 or 3 repeat miles? what rest?
Or should it be more like 3 x 800 w 800j
maybe repeat 1000's
or maybe a cutdown like: 1600, 1200, 800, 400?
As I don't intend to seriously race anything above 1000m, I don't know about doing longer repeats such as miles or tempo runs; wouldn't I be best off doing a a few repeat 800's or 1000's for my strength training. These can be done at a faster pace than the mile repeats/tempo runs and so may be more race specific stamina beneficial.
Any veteran 800m runners want to give me some advise on this?
