.Of the people we talked to, almost all were there not to see Rupp or Hasay, and certainly not to see the other sub-2:15ers/2:35ers, but to support their friend's daughter or to cheer for the woman they babysat 20 years ago. If you want crowd support, it helps to have more runners.
Yeah, I'm sure tons of people flew to Atlanta to watch the woman they babysat 20 years ago compete...

Sorry for posting the same tweet three times. That was an error. Though the "more is better" crowd might be happy I did so.
I also wanted to call attention to this tweet:
https://twitter.com/laurie9730/status/1233956772982984704So it wasn't just one runner who fell. It was "several."
That had to be expected.
Usually a 2:45 Marathoner is not used to run in big crowds. Here you had 200? women at roughly the same Marathon pace. They would not separate for a long time. Quite different from any other Marathon race.

So it looks like that stacking tje field with so much sub elites was a terrible decisions.
This is wrong, grammatically and otherwise. Somehow it works for crowds this dense in Boston, NYC. The two affected here are quite unlikely to have been factors in either race. So these two didn't stay out of trouble, shît happens.
Crowd support is not as important as runners' safety. Priorities!

It was more than two runners who fell. This is not a hobby jogger fun run. It is the freakin Olympic Trials. It is time to start taking it seriously like Japan does.
OMG. That black eye. Too many runners. Reminder when Bekele got trampled at that marathon overseas? Reminds me of that.
How many was it, then? Wait, nevermind, it hardly matters. It's just a qualifying round. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I heard on social media a few runners DNF'd because they had a cold. WTF? You ran in a crowded field jeopardizing the health of other runners when there's a public health crisis. Selfish. Another reason to trim the field.
Lower the qualifying standard or just get rid of the "B" standard. Maybe just put it at 2:15 for the Men and leave it at that. Drop the women's standard to 2:35.
The potholes shocked me. They could have sent 2 guys out the day before to fill them in.
