Recently did an 18 mile long run
miles 1-9 split:7:07/mile
miles 9-18 splits: 6:41/mile with mile 18 @ 6:28/mile (fastest mile in the run)
Total elevation gain: ~1200 feet
Overall this felt surprisingly easy, I definitely wasn't going all out. This was also done in the middle of a 75 mile week off the back of an 80 mile week the week before.
Additional information:My 5k PR is 16:58 from September but I could be in 16:4X-16:3X shape right now. My marathon is on April 26 and is very flat. I run a lot of my mileage at a low 7 pace, which now feels easy and is a pace I can recover from quite well. I get a good long temp in every week on hilly terrain and I like to finish a lot of my runs with at around 5:40-6:10 pace (last 1-3 miles). I usually do at least 10 miles per run, and have been doing so for around 6 months, and I have done a LOT of 'long' runs in the 10-15 mile range averaging less than 6:50 per mile.
What do you guys think I can do in this upcoming marathon? First marathon, have been running a little less than two years.
