Did their shoes match their shorts? Were they even wearing shorts or did they have on tights?
3200 or 3218 meters?

3200 meters. I eyeballed 800 m splits of 216/216/213/209 with his last 400 about 63. Sherry ran a ~155 800 m relay leg about 2 1/2 hours earlier and seemed to be working at it.
Do not approach the timing tent or at least approach with caution. Did Irving Black make it? Did they take down the tent?

now that is a name i have not heard spoken in some time
Also 3 more mid pack guys that I’m not gonna bother to look up (probably 9:30 guys) were in the cheaterflys.
Would it even be an advantage on a 200m track with all those turns? Surely spikes would be nicer on the turns at that fast of a pace.
Was it 200m? Banked or unbanked?

200m flat.
That's pretty awesome. Reminds me of last year's NJ SMOC with Murphy and Hart.
With Murphy looking stronger last XC season, and the fast times at Holmdel we could see something like this race in NJ.
NBNI 2 mile will be something special
Sherry had already run 8:59 on a banked track a month ago, but I did notice the vaporflys. Who cares about the shoes, it’s wholly impressive that two runners were under 9 to shatter that record. I suspect one of them may opt to run the 5k at Nats

DId Sherry run the 1:55 in VF's?

Looks like he was wearing a pink spike for the 4x8. A little hard to tell from race video but you can’t see any of that white foam below the shoe. I’d say you can’t tell from the video quality, but the white foam was clearly visible in the 3200.
I’d say with like 90% certainty that he wore spikes.
Sherry definitely spiked up for the 4x8. As for NBNI I’d say second place Puffer runs but Sherry cuts his season at New Englands, to my knowledge Sherry’s never raced a track 5k while Puffer qualified for and ran decently at NBNO as a freshman. He actually holds the 14-15 yr old age group WRs for 5000m, but hasn’t beaten Sherry since last outdoor.

*national level track championship
Did run Footlocker in XC
The indoor track used for many regional HS and College events is about 20 min from my house. It’s a flat 200M Mondo surface. I would not wear my Next% on that — way too tight on the turns. Mondo already absorbs so much.
That’s fast though for Sophomores...
Such Connecticut names!
what makes you think Sherry will stop his season at NE's? he's one of the top ranked two milers in the country and has a shot to win an indoor national title.

Can confirm that Sherry ran the 4x800 in spikes. For the 3200 he wore vaporflys, as did his brother and another student form his high school. Multiple other athletes were wearing vaporflys. Source: Ran 4x800, trackside for 3200
Another sub 9 Sophomore, Larry Josh Edwards (8:56) from WV, was one of 3 runners who broke 9:00 two weeks ago at Spire Indoor Track in Ohio. He wore spikes, however the kid that came in 3rd did not break 16:00 in XC this year but ran 8:58 in VaporFly’s on the track.
