I saw this on FB
I heard
Nike will give a free pair of their new Alphafly racing shoes at the Olympic marathon trials to any qualifier. NOT limited to Nike sponsored athletes.
Any truth to this?

If anybody didn't need to give out free shoes, it would be Nike. people will pay the $ as long as they're available.
I just hope that Skechers, Saucony, New balance, and Brooks are at least getting participants to try on their models before the Trials.
There is going to be a pop up sales booth. Not free.
They will be free to all marathon trials qualifiers, not just Nike sponsored athletes.
Yep. Been hearing this from Nike reps for months now.

If they accept, are they obliged to run in them?
Can they keep them?
I expect a lot of new or barely used Alphafly's to appear on eBay the day after the Trials.
And wouldn't it be a huge risk for non Nike athletes to run in these shoes? They had no opportunity to train in them. I know this is far fetched, but there is also the possibility that Nike gives non Nike athletes shoes without the 'magic', so only the Nike athletes have the benefits of the Alphafly's.
Anyone with a legit shot at the team is going to be wearing their sponsor’s shoes. Not like Ward/Faubs/ etc. are going to jump ship to the Alphaflys
Back in the early’80s there were always a lot of modified Mariahs on sponsored athletes feet. The swoosh was stitched on so easy to remove and replace with other logos
