I'm gonna be running 70-75 maybe some 80 weeks in the summer and figured I might just try a 100 mile week for fun, what do you guys think.

Sounds fun.
I would take a down week 1 or 2 after so you avoid a sf.
Yes!
yeah, I think that's a good idea. even if I was feeling good after It'd be important to take a down week. Can't risk it. If someone takes the responsibility of doing high mileage and rushes into it without handling it correctly they can get injured so I try to take that into account.
Do it. And if you survive it try 110, then 120. When it breaks you, kick back in wonderment at how the top marathoners do that each week, every week, for years.
Yes, you should if it is something you've been wanting to do. If you do it once and you aren't stupid about it, then you'll be fine.
Running a 100 mile week had been on my running bucket list since high school over 15 years ago. Last summer, I built up to a consistent 50 mpw and then just went for it one week. I dropped below 50 mpw for the next couple of weeks, felt great, and now I can say I've run a 100 mile week.

Did you notice any training effect from it?
Worth doing once if you’ve always wanted to. Go for it! You’ll definitely learn some things.
That said... I’ve always figured that the real training benefit comes from stringing together consecutive weeks. Doing 100 mile weeks in such a way that you can recover and continue to sustain that volume for a couple of months without injury. That means the buildup and level of conditioning are important too.
Finding a way to do the volume without destroying your body is where real growth will come. The quality adaptations come from “weeks, not peaks”.
If you just want to run 100 miles to say you did, there are races you can enter and do it in a day or two. Which can also be fun.
Of course you should. Everybody who runs regular 100 mile weeks started off by running "just one."

True, but it's hard to get to consistent high mileage if you don't have some peaks on the way. Trying 100 now and then makes it easier to sustain 80. Trying 120 makes it easier to sustain 100.

Not really. I did notice psychological effects from it, however. Multiple 10+ mile days back to back doesn't seem daunting anymore.
Just be sure to be cautious on your intensity, don't push the pace much during that week, the extra mileage will be tough enough. Don't want an injury.
Hell yea man. As long as you're not prone to overuse injuries, one week of 100 won't make or break you (you'll be tired no doubt but you can go easy the next week). You really start to unleash the power of high mileage when you string together a three of them at a time, take a down week, then do it again.
