Hello everyone, I am a high school senior in Texas
I have for the first time, this year, been able to devote my whole attention to running. some background about me is that I have played football for 7 years, and run for 6 years. because of this, I was always lifting weights, and gaining muscles in all the wrong places (for running). After football this year I have lost 16 pounds, bringing me down to about 173lbs (6ft). Last year in track I ran 4:58, running about 20 miles a week with a bit of speed work (I know that isn't great, but I was happy to have defeated that mental barrier).
So, on to my main question, what are some signs that I can run around 4:40 in the mile from the workouts I do?
For ex, on another thread (not on this website) I saw someone say that a pretty good implication of this is if you can do 8 x 400m with one minute rest in-between, the pace you do it in is what your mile can be (75sec per lap = 5:00mile).
Also be easy on me, this is my first post
