Arthur Lydiard and John Kellogg would have their runners often do high end aerobic runs during base phase. My understanding of Tinman's training is that you have a weekly CV workout and Tinman Tempo (~40 min tempo). Is the underlying idea of Tinman's philosophy that you start off with the weekly CV and tempo during base phase and this is what replaces the high end aerobic runs (steady state or whatever) that other coaches have often used? I understand that his workouts would probably develop your aerobic capabilities to a large degree similar to progression/steady state runs during base.
