Kelvin Kiptum should win this, 20yo and ranked 31. Finished halfs in 59.53 twice last year in March and on September 29. Was a disappointing 12th in Copenhagen on September 15th in 60.38.

Helalia Johannes should finish ahead of the other women, 27yo and ranked 53. Won Nagoya last March in 2.22.25 then in September third at the W/Champs. I ranked her 14 as a marathoner from her results last year.
Next to complete the course may be Callum Hawkins, 27yo and ranked 93. In September at the Great North Run was fourth in 60.39. The next month was fourth in Doha at the World Champs over the classic distance, mirroring his result from two years prior. In between those, collapsed at the Comm Games on the Gold Coast. Won here in 2017 in exactly one hour.
Second lady could be Sinead Diver, 42yo and ranked 45. Is holder of the over 40yo WR over 10000 on the track, achieved last September at the World Champs. Third here last year in 68.55. In August, was outrun by fellow 40yo plus Aussie on the Sunshine Coast in 69.08.
Third to finish must be Yuma Hattori, even though his best of 61.40 only makes him the equal 55th fastest Japanese all-time over the distance. He is 26yo and ranked 87 as a marathoner. That PB came in 2018 at the last truly international Usti nad Labem. Won Fukuoka at the classic distance in 2018 in 2.07.27.
Next woman might be Charlotte Purdue, 28yo and ranked 62. Was fifth in South Shields last September in 68.10 after a poor 16th there the previous year in 76.50. That sad run followed just four weeks after a DNF at the Berlin Marathon.

Usti nad Labem is one of a few European halfs that limit their elite to Europeans.
Fourth man maybe Yuta Shitara, 28yo and ranked 54 as a marathoner. Holds the NR of 60.17 created when 8th at Usti nad Labem in 2017. This will be just his warm up for his main mission of 2020: on March 1 finish ahead of Osaka and Inoue and go under 2.05.50 in Tokyo. Do that and he represents at his home Olympics.
Fourth woman should be another Aussie: 31yo Ellie Pashley, ranked 68. PB set on the Sunny Coast in August, third in 69.14. Has also run well here in Japan, second at Okayama in 2018 in 69.20. Is locked in a three way battle at the top of Australian distance running with two 40+ ladies. Just waiting for them to throw in the towel or relishing the competition?
Next to finish the course might be Zane Robertson, 30yo and ranked 170. Made his debut at the classic distance on the Gold Coast last July: third in 2.08.19. PB at the half is 59.47 here, second in 2015.
