2020 Dubai Marathon Discussion Thread - Race is Thursday night at 9 pm ET

Coverage for the last 3 or 4 years has been excellent. Lots of cameras. Great use of drones a few years back, but don't remember them utilizing any last year. Looking forward to it.

A few interesting things from the press conference. Seifu Tura Abdiwak thinks he can run 2:03 flat. Meanwhile, the man with the fastest pb in the field, Solomon Deksisa (2:04:40), sounded confident as well, "I am here to win and if I win, I think I will be in the Olympic team."

The article points out that women's favorite, Worknesh Degefa Debele is an adidas athlete. She said she was not worried about which shoes racers wore.

"I only believe in hard work. I don't care if anyone is wearing Nike or Adidas," she said, speaking through a translator.

I love how other countries choose Olympic marathon competitors.

As little as US runners race, it's a waste that the marathon trials even exist. The Cheaterfly wearers should be in Dubai, or heading to London, whatever.

The Houston marathon was a Gold Label marathon - so this is the SECOND major marathon of the year.

Here is the Elite Fields, A Lot of NEW ADDITIONS since Yesterday (Yesterday they listed 16, today they list 35 Men, The women listed 14 Yesterday and 17 Today).

At least 3 others have applied for Platinum status with one of those being Valencia and are awaiting a decision.

Fair enough. But also to point out that Houston is the only city to have both Gold Label marathon and half-marathons.
