This Jake has been discriminated against because of his sex. There were 6 women who got into the Olympic Trials with the same fractional second rounding and yet just because Jake is a man, he is denied entry into the men's Olympic Trials.
Just imagine if there were 6 men that got into the Olympic Trials and 1 woman was denied because of the same fractional second rounding rule. All the feminists would be roasting men for dinner!
Rojo/Wejo, surely you can help Jake protest this sexist discrimination against him?
Its a fricking marathon, hundredths of a second only matter for determining prize money and order of finish, not time. He finished in 2:19:00 and should be allowed into the trials. Another guy ran 2:19:02 at CIM as well, but thats 2 seconds too slow.
He did not qualify nor did the chicks. They too need to be denied.
If not, this guy has a winnable lawsuit and in federal court. No real ‘damages’ of monetary value but in a discrimination suit monetary damages are not needed.
In the best year ever for the US men's marathon, the qualifying time was 2:23 flat.
The men's qualifying time should be changed to 2:23 flat and remain there from now on.
I think what makes this so bad is that he was originally granted entry, then they decided to deny him hours later. He had already celebrated the achievement. USATF screwed up big time here.

Back off.
The women have a much better system, and the women have nothing to do with how the men's team is decided.
sad. this guy is from my area. people speak very highly of him as a youth coach. He actually does not deserve to go, but with the six ladies going under the same circumstances, it's not right. They shouldn't be going. But if some get the exception. All must get it.
Which six women got in and what were their chip times and gun times?
How many inches is that? How accurate are chip times anyways?
The men's and women's LDR Committees are totally different. The Men's LDR Committee is notoriously ego-driven and the Women's LDR is more logical. Has been that way forever. There would not even have been a question with the women's LDR in this situation. The guy ran a 2:19:00. In the qualifying criteria is just says 2:19:00 which is anything under 2:19:01.
You are incorrect. Yes the committees are different but the USATF stayed qualifying guidelines are consistent.
Read the rules before you open your stank pie hole.
Wow. I'm not sure what to say.
I saw he ran 2:19:01 at Houston looking at the results and figured he was the last guy into the Trials because I thought they let people in who were close .
I didn't know he ran 2:19:00.141 and would be told he was in the Trials by someone in Atlanta and then told he wasn't in by USATF. That is the worst part of this.
If Atlanta had never told him he was in this would be much easier for him as Jake on instagram wrote, "I understood since the time is 2:19:00 and while heartbreaking, I am a numbers guy and understand."
But then he discovered the whole male/female angle with women in the exact same situation being let into the Trials. This just sucks.
If women are being let in with 2:45:00 chip times I think men should bet let in with 2:19:00. Ignoring for now how much easier the qualifying standard is for women, an appeal to a rule should not be determined by what sex you are.

I'll answer part one of your question.... about 29 inches.
If you know jake, you know he’s a great guy and one aspect to this that makes it even more heartbreaking is he missed qualifying in the half for the ‘16 trails by 25 seconds... he busted his a** for 4 more years to miss it by .141! In the full
Does this mean that Jim Walmsley's 1:04:00 from last year should also get denied or was he 1:03:59 rounded up?

Was it 65 in '16?
2:19 seems slow for a 65:xx guy with 4 additional years of training.
(139min*60sec/min)/((26.2miles)*5280ft/mile)=16.59ft/sec*0.141sec=2.39 ft =28.2 inches.
Crazy. There is no way the course measurement is with 2.5 ft. I know there's other factors, but its still crazy.
a true champion would have leaned at the finish
+1 for Jake, Palo Duro's finest.
Here's hoping he somehow gets made whole and that USATF/ATL grant an exception to the rules.
I have to hope that he will be given entry given
- how close he is to meeting the requirement
- the fact that there are other (female) competitors who were granted more leniency*
- the godawful rollercoaster experience that he is going through
*I haven't personally verified if there are 6 women who were granted leniency / exceptions
