Just watched replay of boys 300m race at Va Showcase - awesome performances from Cameron Rose and Justin Robinson. Both under :33. Rose won by .03 in :32.84...credited with US HS all-time #2. However, if you slow down the video, you can clearly see Rose steps on (and over) the line into lane 5 multiple times on turn 3. It's pretty darn blatant. IMO it altered the outcome of the race. Shouldn't Rose have been DQ'd?
You say he stepped into lane 5 but from where?
If he was in lane 6 and stepped over into lane 5 two or more consecutive times then yes he should have been DQ'd. The key is the word consecutive.
If he was in lane 4 and went into lane 5 without getting in the way of a competitor then believe it or not that is OK.
looks to me like 2x 2 steps on the final turn (from 5 into 4)

In real time, looks like he is on the line for 1/2 of the turn.
HS is not more lax in any rules.
But it all depends on the judge for that race.
You probably have one judge per turn trying to look at all 6 or so runners for an entire curve in real time.
Easy to miss.
Lane rules are not more lax, but Umpiring and detecting can be.
