I am 26. Been training seriously for about 5 years now, but I've had many ups and downs.
2014: ran 31.30 in 10k on track, national champion in U23 (haha), made the xc team, finished sth like 62 out of 64 at the Europeans.
2015: ran indoor 1500m (4.00) and the next day 3000m (8.41). 3rd place on both, but during the 3000m I suffered a metatarsal fracture, surgery, another surgery in August and the year was pretty fucked up. I hadn't really done any serious recovery.
2016: ran the outdoor season (3.59/1500 and 15.12/5k. both prs)
2017: again the outdoor season 3.55/1500, 8.34/3k and 14.54/5k. after this race I changed the coach and had plantar fasciitis that kept me out for about a month
2018: got mono in january, so the track outdoor season was fucked. still managed towards the end of the year to make the balkan xc team and run a 14.41/5k (my pr to date)
2019: did A LOT of mileage in january (716kms), A LOT of gym and swimming also (2 days per week: one day plyo and swimming legs, 2nd day squats and hypoxic swimming). ran a 30.55/10k in april, and after that (in june) I got into overtraining. the junk miles from january and february caught me up. so I could only rest. started running again in August, preparing a mile race. Ran the mile in 4.15 late oct.
2020: trying to go as fast as possible in 1500m in a week, and then take a break and preparing the nationals (in august). (because I have a feeling that a sub 3.40 - and q for the Europeans - is a bit too much)
I know that things could have been done better if I would have read a bit more and not just trust my coaches 100%. We don't really have good coaches here. But I am willing to do the work.
Sorry for my bad English
