Second in the finals. Also was second in the LJ. I’m not super familiar with 60m times, so how good is that?
Discus.

also not familiar with 60m times... pretty sure its about equivalent to a 10.5

IAAF table says 10.29 which sounds about right
Solid opener. Not an earth-shattering time, but strong. It would have ranked him 35th in the NCAA last indoor season. He'll likely need to run closer to 6.61 or 6.62 to make nationals.
Very solid opener LJ too. 24'7 is a nice place to start. Same as 60, he'll likely need to improve to make NCAAs. Something about a foot longer would likely do the trick.
He has never been a great starter so the time is not terrible. Also, it is hard to start out a season after winter break. I am not sure about how consistent he is in the long jump but they are a good school for that event in the past. I know his LJ was well under his best. Again could have been off the board. I expect him to have much better marks in his next competition.
What the last 2 posters said.
It's a solid opening time to build upon, but that 's it.

He's got a ways to go. Georgia didn't sign the best male prep to need to improve to "make the NCAAs". They signed him to need to improve to score and possibly in multiple events at NCAAs even as a freshman.

It's equivalent to about 1.01 Bo Jacksons
letsrun board is silly here, they have no experience.
you got a decent 60m result opening and you can do 44x 400m relay.
that is called very good.
that is called on track.
that's what you want.

Boy, if I had a nickel for every time I heard that...

It's pretty good, it's likely he will run around 6.60 by the end of the year, which should be good enough to be All-American right away as a freshman. But NCAA champion material is 6.50 or better. Remember Coleman ran 6.3's for the world record two years ago.
It's unlikely he'll be an NCAA champ this year, but I could see him placing top 8 indoors and outdoors in the 60/100 and possibly top 8 in another event on top of those performances.
Aren't the best 60m indoor guys short? Coleman is maybe 5'7". Boling is at least 6'2". Wouldn't expect him to be excelling on a short course indoors. Has any tall guy done well?
Grant Holloway is 6'2" and managed to do pretty well.
This is a solid opener. I think I predicted this exact double, but the thread was deleted (so maybe I imagined it). 60 is probably not going to be Boling's best event right off the bat. Indoor, I'm not sure if it makes sense for him to be screwing around with the wonky 200s and 400s. Success for me would be him getting AA in the 60 and setting himself up for 10.0x/sub 20.2 outdoors.
his 10.13 HSR converts to a 6.62 if you use the 1.53
so here is a thought he is 10.20-.25 range right NOW in jan.

cant find any earlier 2019 results but he was 10.20's in march. and ended at 10.13 3 months later
indoor nats is in march so only 2 months away. that was his first race, i predict his next 60 will be 6.60 at the end of this month, and 6.53-5 at nationals

Bolt is 6'5" and his en route 60m during his 9.58 was the fastest 60m ever, faster than Coleman's WR. The rule of thumb has long been that shorter is better indoors and for the start, but it maybe doesn't need to be a hard rule.

CL is 6-3+ and has gone 6.53, and 6.55 a couple of times—and his block work and early drive are nowhere near great.

and to think some of you peeps act like this is his full potential....6.53 by nationals, maybe faster since it will be in albq
Albq will be a great place to PB, but MB isn’t quick. He will have to earn it on smooth extended drive like the Greener used.
6.53 is a long way from 6.68. If he had laid down a 6.61, I would say maybe.
Based on 6.68 opener I give him 6.62 this year at best, maybe 6.60 in Albq. I do not think he is 6.5 material at the moment
