If so what is it like? Is it a "real" running shoe?
If so what is it like? Is it a "real" running shoe?
Comes tomorrow...will let you know. The same base as the next % in terms of width and Flyknit are what makes me try them
I had hated the react foam generally but also interested to see how this one is
I'm still waiting for someone that requires stability shoes to review them. So far it's just been a bunch of people that run in neutral shoes posting reviews.
I have an epic react that I walk around in and I don’t think it’d be great to run in, but I like the zoom fly flyknit which has react foam afaik
Logged 20 miles in these. In short, nothing special and they are getting sent back to Nike. Not worth the price or hype - just a new branding of epic reacts with more hard foam
Background
- 3:01 Marathoner Runner,
- Underpronator & heel striker. Slightly wide feet
- Tend to run in vaporflys, next %'s, zoom fly flyknits/3 and Turbo's. Saucony usually fits well, Hoka and Skechers are too narrow.
Fit
- True to size. They fit every other 11.5 I have in Nike, Saucony, etc...
- Very roomy, almost too roomy for me. I like the flyknit upper, but if you try to tie it down hard, it bunches up and pinches.
- Toes have plenty of room to move around. Too much for me though and as too much room for me leads to blisters and an odd toe off feeling
- Guide support: you feel it on your arches. Be prepared to feel it when you put these on. It bothered me for sure, but it is less noticeable when running. Still though, I feel it enough that it bothers me and make me wish for my other shoes where I dont feel the support.
Ride
- Hard ass React. Nothing more, nothing less. So it has 25% more react, well...I cant feel it and it still feels like I am lugging around hard bricks.
- Ride feels firmer than the zoom fly flyknits, not sure why, but those shoes feel a tad softer
- Despite the reviews I read, it still does brick up worse in the cold. Was 25 today and these feel hard as can be. Zoomx firms a little (you can feel your sock seams for the start), the new pwrun works great in the cold, but this is like all other react shoes
- Very very stable shoe, it is wider than all other nikes I own (except Next %), which for me works well when I can get good lock down
- Sole is stiffer than most. On the ZF3 I feel the plate more than the flyknit and this shoe I feel the stiffness more than most.
- Decent turnover with rocker feel...but I found fast paces awkward in the shoe...it tended to make my paces slower
Other
- Shoe is white and gets dirty, so be prepared that these will look dirty
- Outsole seems pretty durable. Unlike vaporflys, these dont show any wear after 20 miles
- Dont think its worth anywhere near 160$ when you can get deals on zoom flys
In conclusion, this is just another version of the epic react with a wider forefoot, more hard foam and lots of Nike "not getting hurt" marketing hype. I really wanted to like this shoe as Nike's tend to fit me well, but this one is going back.

Bernard Lagat seems to be wearing them.
I put 11 mi on them Sunday and 8.2mi yesterday. Overall, I dig them a lot.
I race in Next % or Fly 3s, with track work usually in Streak7s. The daily trainer has been Peg36s since they came out. Never had much luck with the Turbo. Ran about 100 mi in The Epic React 2s.
Background
- Current favorite shoe, Fly 3.
- I'm a mid-foot striker.
- 2:54 Marathoner
- Mild underpronator
I never "loved" the Epic reacts or saw any real reason to choose them over Peg 36s. They felt fine, but the Peg36 was just better (and more versatile) all around.
I've tried Hoka but always have had narrow foot and odd blister issues in them. Plus their foam is nothing special. But I dig the rocker concept.
So with the Infinitys... if you like react foam then you'll like these (I like react foam). Coming from Fly3s and Next%s the overall stability of the Infinitys is great. Great daily daily shoe there you can just put them on and not worry about anything. Let your legs rest sorta thing.
The biggest thing for me with these shoes is now I have a non-carbon plate (I don't want to run in carbon plates all of the time) aggressive toe ramp shoe. Running in these feels similar to the Fly3s and Next%s with how you ramp up on the toe. That alone makes these shoes worth it to me.
They don't feel like an upgrade to the Epic React. They feel like a totally different shoe due to the overall wide platform. They feel much closer to the Fly3 for me, in the forefoot.
They do feel heavy'ish, similar to the Fly3s. However, when I put on my Next%s or Streak7s it feels like I have nothing on my feet.
I think the Peg36 is STILL the more versatile shoe. Seeing the leaks of the Peg37s, also having the aggressive toe ramp, I think when they do come out those shoes will become my daily daily.... but until then the Infinitys will be what goes on my feet for those easy and base runs.
Great shoe. Excited for Nike to adopt the aggressive toe ramp across their main running product like in 2020.
Agreed on the price - no way are they worth 160 (euros here) - 20e more and you get Turbo's.
I was excited about them, and the more Hoka style geometry rocker, and I was going to order them, but I was expecting the RRP to be 120 - no 160.
Saving my money and will have a look next year at discount.
I absolutely hate the mid-foot constriction they put in this shoe. It is immediately noticeable and hurts a little, though I found I could run through it today. I’m sure some of you could name what this feature is, but it doesn’t work for me. The same design feature is in the Epic react. I don’t have wide feet and I have medium to high arches, so I’m really surprised this design works for other people. I never would have made it out of a store with these shoes, but since I mail ordered them I’m giving them a couple test runs.
Otherwise I liked running in them. I’ve been excited for them to come out and really want them work out.
I've got 4 runs and about 40 miles on my pair so far. Good shoe! It doesn't feel the same as some of the other Nikes I've worn recently, but it's not supposed to.
It feels fairly lightweight and the sole isn't mushy at all. I'll echo the point about the upper potentially bunching if you tie the laces too tight. Outsole looks very durable as well. I was a fan of the original Epic Reacts so I like that they're continuing with it.
For me, this will be a go-to easy day shoe for when my legs aren't super beat up and need more cushion.
2:57 marathoner. Do most of my easy miles these days in Solomon Predict RA, but race in Next%s. But in a given month, I'll run Peg Turbos, Kinvaras, Brooks Ghosts , Streak LTs, Hoka Carbon X, and Zoom Fly 3s.
Have only put a couple short runs on them so far, but I really like them. It's been a while since I've run in Epic Reacts, but the ride feels a little bouncier. I'd like to get a few long runs in them to see how they feel, but at least for now, they're probably going to be by easy day/recovery day shoe of choice. They might even do ok for longer runs with a couple short MP/HMP work.
I'm also not crazy about fly knit in general. I can never quite get the fit right. Would prefer a conventional upper.
But I have to applaud Nike for trying to actually focus on injury prevention. Time will tell whether or not the study by UW pans out, but it's refreshing to at least see a shoe company not try to the sell debunked 'science' of stability/motion control/neutral/etc shoes as having anything to do with injury. At least they put some skin in the game by making specific claims with research to back it up... even if much more is needed.
