As someone who's just started running at 29, I'm trying to get a feel for how much I could improve.
So how much have your PR's changed over time?

You are in the prime of your life!
Some people who spent their HS and College years running, peak in their 30s.
The fact that you have only started training means that you have a lot of potential to improve if you work hard and stay consistent over the years to come.
Thanks!
i went from ♾ to -♾ ?
i started running at 28. i ruined it by going way too hard, everyday, and running through injuries. within a week or two i was close to 24 in a 5k, and I was running a 21 minute 5k within less than 2 months. then took me about 7 years to get any better than that, as i finally solved my chronic injuries. Still, I have only worked my way down to my 19s, though only on solo runs. i don't race. im sure ive been in sub 19 shape if i actually went out and did it enough.
JUST BE PATIENT
Started running at 37, ran a 4:08 marathon at 38 and got this down to a 2:40 by 42. Happy with that, so at 44 no longer chase PRs.
You’ve a decade of improvement ahead of you.
Started running mid 20s.
Here is my progression for 10k (years avg mileage per week)
2011 – 46:27 (avg 14 mpw)
2012 – 41:33 (avg 28 mpw)
2013 – 39:16 (avg 39 mpw)
2014 – 37:34 (avg 41 mpw)
2015 – 35:56 (avg 53 mpw)
2016 – 35:41 (avg 43 mpw)
2017 – 35:29 (avg 46 mpw)
2018 – 34:57 (avg 53 mpw)
2019 – 33:57 (avg 55 mpw)
Had a two years set back in 2016-2017 due to health issues and not able to train properly.
This is right in line with where I'm starting, and I can't get rid of shin splints.

I'll post HM times since it's my favorite distance. I started running them as a college freshman. I ran XC/track in high school and got down to the 17s for 5Ks by senior year.
2013 - DNF, didn't understand how to race it
2014 - 1:21 mid (50-60 mpw)
2015 - n/a
2016 - 1:13 low (80-90 mpw)
2017 - 1:10 mid (100 mpw)
2018 spring - 1:11 mid (80-90 mpw)
2018 fall - 1:08 mid (100 mpw)
Not sure how helpful this is but hope it's encouraging.
I ran in high school and in college (small school), mostly 5k and below. Didn't run my first half until I was 33 (and horribly out of shape at that point), but I've done nothing but improve since then.
2016 - 1:30:59
2017 - 1:28:09
2018 - 1:26:30
2019 (spring) - 1:25:27
2019 (fall) - 1:23:01
2019 (fall) - 1:21:01
Impressive times and training volume.
Appreciate all the posts.
You can improve a lot over the next 10-15 years, IF you are patient and not over train and over race. That is a major mistake a lot of beginners make.
Also you will have steep improvements in the beginning but it will get a lot more difficult once you have reached a certain level. Stay patient.

Took a while/lot of running for me to ‘unlock’ my talent, and I’ve had some setbacks post college, but the work does pay off, even if it takes a while.
I started at a very similar age when I was 30.
My first 5k on the 25th August 2012 was 24:10
I ran 21:27 by the end of 2012.
19:46 in 2013.
19:17 in 2014 which is still my PR
19:24 in 2015
19:25 in 2016
Not had a solid block of training since then. I'm convinced the worst thing I did was running 4 marathons, 2 in 2013 and 2 in 2014. I ran my best times in 2014 but have never felt right since the 2nd marathon that year. Pretty sure it was too much too soon.
That's the ideal scenario for me in terms of improvement. My current 5K time is around 25-26, but I'm not able to sustain an adequate MPW due to shin splints. Anyone have any advice for that?
