Just wondering for both getting in and financial assistance
Yes. Not at an Ivy or D1 power, and not any sort of full ride I suspect, but otherwise, yes. Also depends on how much of admissions reach you're after.
Absolutely. Just signed a girl with significant scholarship with the 2:15 from junior year. Big East.
Our HS girls have been getting very small scholarships ranging from books to 20% with a 2:15.
Yes! There is potential to get some scholarship money. If those times could drop to 24.8, 56 something, and under 2:10 then a whole lot more would open up.

Ok. Thanks for all the responses. She’s a 10th grader and has not yet run 2:15, but I’m confident she will in the spring. Soccer is her thing now.
Of course! Those times would be a scorer in most DII Conferences. 200 may be borderline. She runs 2:10-2:11 and she goes to DII Nationals. So she would get lots of looks and some aid in DII from a lot of schools!
What type of student is she? Many girls I coached were given academic aid with times not even as good as these.
Good students with decent times have many choices and good students with decent times from poor families can write their own ticket.
Do these girls/boys that don't win championships actually bring the school any money?
A soccer player with those stats as a sophomore potentially has a huge upside, depending on things like years playing soccer v. running, relatives with good running genes, hard-working mindset, etc..
Good question. No they don't. That is why schools don't hand out scholarships to most kids. Being top 5 on a college XC team does little for the school. If you can score in track, that is a more objective measurement and most ADs are more into track.
A majority of kids are on some form of financial aid on any DI program. This is the only way they can keep the numbers on the roster to hit NCAA standards and regulations.
Why would any kid want to run in college if not compensated in some form or fashion? Why jeopardize your schooling or social life?

Yes, they allow the school to have a football team by balancing out Title IX numbers and by extension bring in money
I would estimate that 3/4 of women and 1/2 of men are receiving athletic aid on P5 teams. If 50 on the team, that breaks down to 8 guys at 80% = 6.4
8 guys at 50% = 4
8 guys at 20% = 1.6
Small school or invited walk-on. Teach her how to hurdle and/or jump and perhaps as a multi for conference points.
A girl who *actually* hits those times as a soph will be on a lot of schools' radars in her junior year. Doing soccer in the fall, and still hitting those, is a plus. She might even get a look or two from Ivies. (The academics are a whole other thing there, but Ivy financial aid is awesome--even though it doesn't permit Dad to say, "My kid got an athletic scholarship!" it still often results in a better *bottom* line than a half-scholarship from Declineto State.)
And as far as a bump for admission, she'll get one at most schools outside P5...depending on the coach's personnel needs, of course.

Depends where, where are you looking?
yes she will But factors the she is going to have to consider are what level she wants to compete at , be it (Juco, NAIA, D3, D2, D1) D3 doesn't offer athletics, so a thing to consider at this point is what her academics look like. i encourage her to reach out to schools she is interested in. I'd take a lady like that on my team for sure,
Ivies now cost $75k per year. 57% of students at Brown pay the full $75k. Only 43% receive any discount and many of those are paying $200k for 4 years. The cost of your local state school is only $25k. With 1/2 scholarship, is is only $13k.
A 2:15 is outstanding for a high school girl. In fact, it is an unofficial world junior record and would have been the best ever until just a couple months back!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
