Runner up to Aisling Cuffe by 4 seconds in brutal, muddy conditions! Unbelievable after her all out effort last week.
LRC add: In the team battle, the Hoka Aggies won with 73 points.

and everyone was writing her off after one bad race that she still won
Dudek would have broken 20 minutes on that course easily.
And Dudek who barely beat Starlipper would have destroyed Tuohy? Please

So weird seeing the past and the future phenoms race together.
I remember seeing that Cuffe(2010 FL champ) and Masicarelli(2018 FL champ) raced together in a 3000m. Now we got to see Cuffe VS Tuohy! Super neat too since Tuohy rewrote nearly all of Cuffe's HS XC records throughout her career. Great stuff, congrats to both!
That’s what im saying. Tuohy was clearly the best high school girls runner this year. NXN was just a blip that she happened to overcome
And destroyed Mary Cain who was 33rd.
I think things are heading in a great direction for Touhy. Without any pressure she was able to preform amazingly. Collage will be great for her. Highschool Touhy is amazing, but she she basically accomplished everything and people keep expecting more, I think the pressure and stress is starting to get to her.
I wish her the beat in collage, I really hope she goes to a team who is not counting on her being the best in the NCAA and who strives to develop her talent.
Whoa check out # 33 and 45!
Is that THE Mary Cain who finished in 33 place? 21:11, 1 minute back of Tuohy
Clapped Mary Cain by a whole minute

Agreed, she does need some help in managing pressure better though, that will unleash her in the big meets.
Mi two

They were basically even at 3.5K 12:03 vs 12:05
This confirms what I thought going into nxn, that Tuohy's fitness level was very strong, better than 2018 when she was injured. She barely broke a sweat at the regionals. But the between the travel, the pressure and horrendous conditions (not easy running in a swamp) it made for a very tough go. This was a very strong result.
Cuffe's results have been thin in recent years. Best of 15:55 last year. Before that, have to go back to 2016 for a 15:35.
Third place Macumber ran a 15:30 PB last summer.
Starliper finished 30 seconds ahead of Ewert after finishing 16 seconds behind her last week. Ewert may have been slightly worse than at NXN but no doubt Starliper was a whole lot better this week. Dudek had to be very good to beat her.
Cuffe has a ton of road results from this year https://www.worldathletics.org/athletes/united-states/aisling-cuffe-257667
Starliper stayed out west after nxn, which was very smart. At nxn the course was so destroyed that it favored a strong all around athlete like Ewert. It was like watching a different type of running.

None of those results are higher quality than the 15:55 on the track in 2019 that I mentioned.
It would be great to see Dudek vs Starliper vs Tuohy on a decent course in decent conditions when they run their best. 3 very good athletes. Maybe indoors 2 mile at NBI? But Tuohy will probably run DMR on Friday.
