Montana has to be up there!
so does alaska
What about California, New York, Texas, Florida, and Arkansas? Runners from those states are slow.
Actually, your probably right about Arkansas. I doubt many of the Razorback stars are actually from Arkansas.
Ney York? What about Fam? He is pretty damn fast. There are plenty of quality runners in NY. If you want slow, go to Wyoming. Theres so few people there, even if there were a few fast ones, you'd never have to compete against them.

I agree with California and Florida, just because they have to compete with baseball and football, which is big in their states. Texas is a big football state, but know that runners in this state are not slow by any means, they just don't produce a lot of them. New York, well is just over populated, and is hard to hear about great runners, when its all slums. Arkansas, by no means produces a lot of SLOW runners. I live in Missouri, and have ran against many Arkansas schools in my high school days, and they are not slow. Just don't get a lot of big names because of Wal*Mart's over growing popularity that most of the runners just become employed at Wal*Mart rather than pursueing their possible dreams. just my two cents though.
North Dakota...
EVERY team gets to go to state.
Aside from a few good girls teams and individuals (Splichal comes to mind) there is not much talent going around.
Wyoming...ever meet anybody from Wyoming?...me either.
Iowa, Indiana, and Idaho
but definitely not
Illinois (they rock)
No fast runners in MT...
Maybe you've never heard of Scott McGowan.
Plus we have a former NCAA 5 and 10K champ w/ Shannon Butler. Lyle Weese is still pretty damn fast, but probably not the elite level you're looking for. And what about the ladies? Nicole Hunt can hold her own on the national circuit, as well as Marie Boyd and a whole slew of others. As small as we are, I think there's definitely a strong contingent of runners in this state. Obviously, you've got to move somewhere else to be recognized, but per capita MT still produces some fine athletes. Plus, practically everyone here is running at elevation, so you might not see the times here that MT runners could do at sea level.
Wyoming
Yeah, I have .....2 guys on the USA Worlds team in 2003. Name are Godina and Burley
freshman,
I'm pretty sure the guy you replied to was joking about Cali, Florida, New York, etc being slow states.
Ever heard of Forest Braden? Fast MF from Idaho.
Oregon... who fast has ever come out of Oregon?
Canada

Please let me know of any additions or corrections to the list. (Be aware that all sprint and horizontal jumps require wind readings to be accepted. A performance with an aiding wind greater than 2.0/mps is considered "illegal" for record purposes.)
y = yards (880y, mile, etc); the actual time is listed for races run in yards, but is ranked based on converted time.
+ = converted from yards
i = indoor
For a quick explanation of how the statistics are used, please read the brief explanation of Track & Field Statistics. There you can find out such things as why a 10.4 handheld 100 meter time is actually slower than a 10.50 fully automatic time or why a time listed here is not the same exactly the same as listed in the meet results.

California? you probably don't want to ask...
Mike Marsh (9.9, 19.73)
Quincy Watts (43.5)
Johnny Gray
Steve Scott
Marc Davis
Flojo
Marion Jones
Regina Jacobs (yeah, I know, but...)
Deena Drossin
A lot of people think Mary Decker was from Los Angeles, but actually she was born in NJ. I wonder, though, how many states there might be where no MAN has run as fast as Flojo.
U.K. has no fast runner!
Hawaii has never really been a mecca of distance runners.
No counting FloJo... she had more juice in her than the state of Florida.
