I have two pairs of trainers that I bought to see which ones I like better. Is it ok if I just use both and alternate each day?

Yes.
Yes, definitely.
I'm slightly obsessed with rotating shoes almost to the point of OCD. I swap each day, but also wear the left of one pair and the right of the other pair every third day (and swap the left/right order on alternating third-days).
Every two weeks I swap left/right from the same pair, so wear the left shoe on the right foot and vice versa. This isn't as bad as it sounds, and I've noticed it helps even out the wear pattern over time.
I have tried to wear shoes backward a few times as well but that's hard to get right - you have to lace the uppers from behind your heel up to the top of your foot, and run on your toes. It works best on speed rep days. HTH.
I do all that you said, and I also swap out shoestrings in my rotation from left shoe to right shoe and among pairs to ensure even wear. I have the schedule charted on a poster and hanging in my shoe closet. I remove the shoestrings between runs and after hand washing each one I lay them out flat so that they don’t stretch or develop a set. It really helps the shoestrings to maintain that just out of the box feeling.

Wow, I never even considered laces - definitely going to try that out.
I tried something on my long run today that sounds crazy but worked really well. I stopped every 3 miles and swapped shoes (this was on the fourth of my every-third-day cycle so I was wearing two left shoes of different models). It felt great, partly from the regular rests, but also from switching up my mechanics and knowing I was spreading the wear. Definitely doing that from now on. And I'm going to combine it with rotating laces as well (either every 3 miles or every 6 miles) - thanks for the tip.
People here ask the dumbest of questions lol.
Why in th would it matter?
JUst don't try anything for the first time on race day.

NO! The Hand of God will smite you if you alternate shoes after having spent the moolah on two pairs. There are laws of the universe by which you should abide, and Tenet #243 is "If two pairs of trainers have been purchased, only one pair can ever be worn, until replacement time...OR ELSE THE LORD WILL STRIKE THE WEARER DOWN, AND IT SHALL BE REPORTED ON LETSRUN!"
Forget the religious mumbo jumbo. Instead, I suggest wearing one model's left shoe on your left foot and the other model's right shoe on your right foot. If you end up with an injury on either side, then you'll know which model is best.
Ugh...There really are some lamebrain questions asked around here.
Guys that's good stuff but still beginner level. Have you started alternating lacing holes yet? I save a ton of wear on the eyelets by following a fibonacci sequence as to which eyelets I use on a given day; pretty simple really. I've experimented with some other strategies including tongue swapping on the shoes but ultimately that was more work and extra stitching than the benefit (though immense) justified. Another key to getting the highest performance out of your shoes and your feet is to alternate between 1 day/week and 2 days/week wearing other types of shoes while running. This works even better if you hold to the patterns outlined below including left/right alternation and mismatched pairs. Wellington Boots, Chacos, Sperrys and Yeezys are all good options.

changing shoes would waste a ton of time. once i start on a new pair of shoes i just leave them on until they wear out. at first it's weird going to bed and having sex wearing running shoes but you get used to it. it's a major turn-on for the ladies too

Man I love LetsRun. I started laughing to the point of tears after reading this post. My wife thinks I’m nuts.
This thread is more hilarious than the fanny pack thread lol
I just go barefoot and don't have to worry about trainers. Not the kind made in sweatshops in Vietnam, anyway. Just the human kind of trainers.
The OP must be British, or swayed by British culture, because running shoes are referred to as "trainers". That's bleedin' British, squire! (Nothin' wrong with that, mate. I just wanted to run with it. Ha! Run with it!)
Off I go on another barefoot run.
Yours,
Abebe Bikila.
