Every single thing I read says we need 7-9 hours of sleep, and towards the higher side if you’re an athlete. I always used to sleep like a brick. My head would hit the pillow and I’d be out for 8 hours.
I started running again 6 months ago and have built up to 50mpw but now I don’t sleep no matter how hard I try. I lay wide awake in bed at night for hours, and wake up every single day well before my alarm feeling refreshed. I’m concerned because this feels very abnormal. I would love to sleep more, I just can’t no matter how much i try. I’m getting bloodwork done and the only side effect I’ve seen has been some brain fog later in the day.
Other than that, I feel amped and like I’m on adrenaline all day, even when trying to fall asleep. Wtf is going on?
