Just caught a few scenes from Full Metal Jacket while channel surfing . There are some very quotable bits.

The (long) opening scene of Saving Private Ryan is unmatched. The rest is OK, not as exceptional. "Band of Brothers" series is pretty epic. "Das Boot" is also a classic.
Lee Ermey help make the first 1/3 of Full Metal Jacket feel very realistic.
"Fury" with Brad Pitt is undoubtedly one of the most profound, sobering war movies of all time.
The film covers the Western Allied invasion of Germany in 1945 against the last remaining Nazi SS troops fighting to the last man.
One of Pitt's best films, IMO.
I don't remember being moved at all by Fury. Saving Private Ryan is my go to for best war film. Letters of Iwo Jima was very good, Black Hawk Down had some good action, and We Were Soldiers is underrated.
A Bridge Too Far and Band of Brothers, both top notch.
Tropic Thunder. Troy.
Platoon
The Deer Hunter
All Quiet On The Western Front
The Beast Of War (1988)
Zulu
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Patton. That is my all time favorite war movie. It's the best considering cinematic quality, acting, script, score, historical accuracy. It is epic. Through Patton, it thoroughly shows the US campaigns from North Africa, Italy, France, the Battle of the Bulge, then to the fall of Germany. Amazing performance by George C. Scott. Great Movie!
Patton & Das Boot & Dr. Zhivago.
Honorable Mention: Civil War vet Ambrose Bierce’s Occurrence at Owl Creek, remade as Jacob’s Ladder. In the instant before death in war lies a dream of survival.
So no one here is going to mention Pearl Harbor with Ben"Batman"Affleck? lmao
Also no one mentioned Star Wars. 9 movies in now. lmao
Hey it was good i think wrote:

?
Corny movie and very historically accurate.
Correction: not very historically accurate.
“Bloody Sunday” if you’re interested in civil rights. Not so much a war but the slaughter of innocent protestors.
Hands down Band of Brothers.
If we are talking single movies, then I go with Black Hawk Down...for some reason I can always sit down and watch it.
Agree with early poster that said opening of Saving Private Ryan.
Black Hawk Down
