thought of a few more athletes from Mississippi (since somebody else included sprinters)
Coby Miller - 9.98 / 19.96
Calvin Smith - 9.93
George Kersh - 1:44.00
Brian Pope - 4:01 / 13:56
Savante Stringfellow - 27'11.75"
Ralph Boston - not sure his PR...but he did break Jesse Owens' 25-yr-old world record...and got gold in 1960 / got silver in 1964 / got bronze in 1968
My small state of Connecticut had a 100-meter gold medalist, Lindy Remigino, and it had Jerome Young, who was fast in the 400 even before he was a druggie, and it's where Bill Rodgers went to high school and college. On the women's side, it had Ceci Hopp and Liz Muller and Jan Merrill and Celeste Halliday.
Texas can claim Alan Culpepper
John Dimick from Vermont, 2:11:53 marathon
Ivory Crockett 9.0
forever will hold the 100-yd. world record.
from Webster Groves, MO.
Rudy Chappa, Hammond, IN.
Jason Casiano was a pretty fast high schooler.
Andrew Begley and Amy Yoder are probably the fastest boy/girl pair raised in the same town and they got married, how sweet.
Aren't Amy Skieresz and Ryan Wilson from the same hometown, married, and a lot faster than Yoder and Begley? When was the last time a U.S. guy ran sub-13:20, like Wilson did, and then totally vanished?
