Everything points to about a 19:00 flat 5k, maybe a little under, but l would like to run at least 18:15 in my next race. My workouts have been 70mpw 1/4 at 76-81 1 minute jog in between/ 12x and 6x 1/2 in about 2:50-2:48 pace 200 meter recovery jog. What can l do in the next few weeks to really drop my times? I have only been back running a year and am 57 you young bucks. You got to start somewhere. An average week is Monday 10 Tuesday 8 Wednesday 12x1/4 or 1/2 6x 2:50-2:48 200 meter jog in between. Pm 5 miles Thursday 10 miles Friday 8 miles Saturday 8 miles/ Sunday 16x 220 at mile effort. Pm 5 miles. This is an average week. My last race didn't go very well. What can l do in the next 17 days to maximize my performance? FYI my PRs where 28:20 back in the day for 10k and 13:56 for 5k (track) in my younger days.
