Not sure I believe this list. Murmansk is above the Arctic Circle - why is it not one of the coldest. Little America is the capital of Antarctica - seems like it should be on the list. More Russian cities should be on the list.

Has to do with location. In the middle of a continent it will be colder than at a seaport, even in the winter.
Fun Facts To Know thread of the day for sure. Most of the places listed I only know because of the board game Risk!

Malmo - I can only recall like one of those cities in Risk. You can remember more?
I used to get weather reports on my phone for Tura, a little town in the middle of Siberia. I did it to make myself feel better about the weather on cold mornings.
I did a lot of searching to try and find a city that was consistently colder and never could.
Are we using Fahrenheit or Celsius?
St Petersburg and Fairbanks
Boris says Frostbite Falls much colder than GULAG. Also says Natasha becomes cold to him when Fearless Leader is around.
They're both in Russia
Without referrring or even reading any of hte responses, I'd gues s St. Petersburg Russia and one more city in Russia or Canada.......may be Halifax.
So, St. Petersburg, Russia and Halifax, Canada.
I have to get one.

You must be Russian.
Lol, I just loved playing Risk as a teen. I'm actually German.
I guessed only 1 city right (Vladivostok), my second guess was Anchorage instead of Fairbanks.
You have a go at people not being able to name the coldest cities and then you spew rubbish like Little America is the capital of Antarctica?
This appears to me more of a clickbait article, my guess is there is no real methodology being used, the author just picked 10 random cold cities.

It is the capital.

Anchorage is on the water, Fairbanks is in the middle of nowhere.
Edmonton, Saskatoon, Yellowknife—all colder than Ottawa, and colder than others on that list—at least in winter

It is the capital.
It has NO capital. It is not a country and isn't even made up of countries. It is a little cool there, so you at least got that part right.
Off hand, Vostok and McMurdo.
