With these goals in mind, what would be a good training goal? Just more miles overall, per your suggestion?
Thank you!
I ran 1:33:xx about a year and a half ago. I really wanted to break 1:30 that same year. It didn’t happen as life/work got in the way of my training but here’s what I had done prior to the 1:33 and what I was looking to do in prep for the 1:30:
1:33 prep:
25-30 mpw, 40 peak
6x mile w/ 1/4 jog: 7:05/mile
6 mile time trial: 7:15/mile
1:30 prep:
40-45 mpw, 50 peak
6x mile w/ 1/4 jog: 6:50-6:55/mile
6 mile time trial: 7:00-7:05/mile
You have a lot of work to do but also plenty of time. If you have any weight to drop, I suggest focusing on that first as it will make holding those faster paces far easier when you get to that point. Plus if you drop the weight early on, you won’t need to be cutting calories during the peak of your training as the race nears.
