Indy Monumental, 2:35 to 2:40 runners and Vaporfly

To be honest I wasn’t looking at her shoes

If by she, you mean the winner, I thought she was not wearing then at first when she was running with me for a bit- she eventually put 2 minutes on me(she negative split with the last half against the wind!). But I saw her after the race and they were a black pair (never seen a black Vaporfly- maybe they were Zoomflys)

I was referring more generally to the very fit ladies who rolled me up and finished several minutes back of the winner.

"the winner" was Dot McMahon - I believe she is still sponsored by Brooks.

I am like completely wrong about her shoes. I only spoke with her briefly after the race and the Brooks logo looks like Nike ( I don’t have the best vision!!). I am sure she was wearing Brooks.

I guess so. But the only person I knew who finished in the 2:35 to 2:40 window also had Brooks shoes on his feet.

Hmm, there’s also a good chance that the people that beat you are just better at running than you.

Like I said my eyes are not great, but I saw nothing but pink and green (except for Dot McMahon in black shoes). Possibly I had bias to justify my pair!

I still like the idea that less variety of shoe type is more equalizing. Certainly there is less shoe variety now.

Except that it's a $250 shoe and you're looking in one race full of desperate, last-hour OTQ hopefuls. Anecdotal and skewed far from the norm.

2:35 to 2:40 runners aren't desperate OTQ hopefuls.

PrZ, that is exactly my point.

can we stop quoting that it is a $250 race shoe? It is a $100 premium to whatever other race shoe you would have bought anyways....
