Hello there guys and girls, just getting some advice. I'm a 27 year old male(80 Kilograms) that took up running this last March and am currently training for my first marathon this Feb. 23th. Over the last few months I've averaged 23-26 miles per week and ran 2 half marathons. My first was in July and I ran a 2:07:52. More recently just before this training block I ran my 2th half after a battle with the flu and bronchitis in 1:50:39. Using the Vdot02 Calculator I got the result of 40.5 and have been using this result for my training paces for my 2Q program. I have been hitting all of my paces so far but do feel very tired with sore legs. I have a bad habit I'm trying to correct of running my E pace miles 20-40 secs too fast. Overall I'm liking the plan but the marathon paced runs into threshold miles are pretty brutal but barely manageable. My long term goal is to get a BQ in the next 2-3 years since I live quite near there. This marathon will be mainly a learning experience and also I find that without a goal race I feel unmotivated as I tend to be a competitive person. So basically over the next 15 weeks I will be running from .8(32) to 1.0(40) miles as prescribed by Daniels. I hope this will help me to adapt to higher mileage and later next summer I can hit 55-65 MPW as I know most say 70-90 MPW is the minimum for a sub-3 marathon. My current plan is too work on my half marathon times after this marathon and during next summer. So now that I have that all out of the way my question is does my plan sound reasonable and solid? Any advice or tips? Also in Daniel's 3th edition he mentions increasing your Vdot by 1 every 6 weeks. Should I do this?
