Hello All, I am working on running my first half marathon in Dallas on December 15th. Just a bit a me: 33 yo, running for about a year, but only learning how to train correctly for about 3 or 4 months. Fastest 5k was 22:05 on a hilly course in late September, I have a 10k warmup for the Half on Nov 23rd which I expect to run at :46 or so. My question is this, how do I calculate a reasonable pace for the half marathon or even the 10k based on the 22:05 (or faster if you consider the gap time) 5k.
1. I have worked my mpw up to 25 or so and should be at 30 to 32 before the HM (I am doing 10% increase is mileage every week
2. in my last long run of 9 miles (I know, short, but I'm a novice runner!) i averaged about 8:30 - 8:50 pace easily. I could have gone faster, but I have been training with easy runs, tempo runs, and speed work.
3. Realistically, what should my half marathon pace be? If 7:08 was 5k pace, is 8:00 or faster realistic for the HM?
Thanks for bearing with my ignorance!
