My daughter is just coming off her junior cc season with a high school PR 20:00, 800 track PR 2:35 last season. Her goals are low 19 next cc year and 2:00 for the 800. Our track season starts in March and the track coach said they will give out a diy plan for the athletes starting the end of Jan. In the meantime, my daughter asked what she can do now and was told to rest for the next 10 weeks (she will be coming off of a 2 week rest soon). I’m not a competitive runner but everything I’m reading on these message boards looks like she should be doing some easy mileage and strides each week? If so, any ideas how much mileage? She did sign up with someone to start working on strength and core 2x/wk since this has never really been a part of our program. I don’t want to give her the wrong advice and chance an injury but she loves to run and expressed an interest to continue in college if possible, so I’d like to give her to best chance to do this.
