TLDR: ran a hard but controlled session in fairly cold temperatures this morning and felt absolutely fucked all day.
Ran a pretty solid session today as I prepare to break 16 for the 5k. The workout was as follows:
2k WU, 5x200, 3x400, 1x800, 3x400, 5x200, 2k CD. 30secs between 200s, 1min active recovery between everything else. Main goal was to spend a nice amount of time below race pace whilst trying to feel relaxed.
Definitely achieved that and felt in control throughout the session but a couple hours later at work I started to experience some flu type symptoms which started with general fatigue but progressed to cold shivers, achey bones, significantly higher RHR and a throbbing headache. For context the session was run at 6am with temperatures around 3 degrees centigrade.
Had to sack off planned double this evening and this same feeling has lingered all day. I don’t think im actually ill since I feel okay in myself and don’t have a blocked nose or sore throat but my god I feel shite.
Anyone else dealt with this previously? I’ve absolutely run harder sessions before that taxed me more physically but never felt anything like this.
