Also, Saucony should have signed Clayton Young and Connor McMillan and started up a Utah based team. BYU will be feeding that team for years to come.

I heard through the grapevine that McMillan and Linkletter do not get along, and Linkletter wanted to leave Provo anyway.
It feels like McMillan doesn't have a contract because he didn't want to leave Provo and he didn't have any social media presence. Guys worse than him have gone to Mammoth Track club or other places.

True about Linkletter wanting to leave and McMillan wanting to stay. But why don't those Provo dudes make their own team?
If it seems so wise, why don't you sponsor them?

I can avoid buying them Ramen once in a while
I could see a group of BYU graduates forming a strong marathon training group under Eyestone and Ward

Utah isn't a big attraction to go and live and train in. Winter can be very brutal when you aren't used to it. April through October is good though. BYU does have an adequate oversized indoor track. There's also a lot of Mormons that don't like living in Utah because there are...……...too many Mormons!
Park City could be another good area for training during the late Spring to early Fall. It's also at an elevation of 7000ft which is higher than Provo (4500ft) where BYU is located.
Wonder what 212 gets you today?

If sponsoring them is as wise as the poster made it seem, you'd be able to buy them more ramen.

Huh? Btc, nop, and multiple Japanese groups go to Utah for 3 months at a time. The dirt roads and trails are endless. Open public tracks in every neighborhood. Winter is nothing in Provo or any other part of the valley- only occasional snow or ice, but certainly not cold enough to inhibit your training. 450m indoor track in kearns, heated to 68 degrees, open 6 days/week, year round. 12 mile paved trail up Provo Canyon or another in Sandy for tempos. Mormons are a pain in the @$$ though. Not nice people- dishonest and inconsiderate. Worst drivers you'll ever experience as well.
When those groups go there to train do they go there in the winter? I don't think so. All along the Wasatch Front, Ogden, SLC, & Provo it's cold during the winter months. Lows in the mid 20's with highs around the low 40's at best. They do get enough snow that you can count on December through late February having snow on the ground. The stagnant air caused by temperature inversions is pretty bad too. Park City is even colder and more snow. That's because it's a effing ski resort. Now May through September the valley would be good and Park City even better. Park City also has less Mormons than the valley.
I guess since he just ran 2:12:07 we’ll find out.

Which is good for a 2:06 in Berlin with cheater shoes..
Nike is currently NOT signing any athletes that are not going to be a part of one of their groups. Same with Brooks. Same with Hoka.
New Balance has invested in women and events but not men.
Equipment deals can be had but real contracts are tough to find.
No shoe company is going to step up and sponsor a group of guys that have multiple shoe deals already for guys in the group. Also a college coach can not be your coach as their are too many brand obligations.
Either join a group or starve.
Or find a job and train with the Dancan system lead by me, Coach J.S.

HAHAHA! Desperate much. McMillan training under Eyestone seems to be going quite well. The issue isn't the coaching, it's that he isn't making money.
