He didn't ask her about them for this article but a few weeks ago I reached out to her on twitter and she replied she “ran in a prototype of a new ASICS marathon shoe. It does not have a carbon fiber plate so I do not attribute my PR to the shoe.”
To me, having since learned a lot, I don't care all that much about just the fiber plate. If the shoes had the new PBAX foam, then it could be a huge help.
A messageboard poster "forcerunner" wrote the following about the Asics shoes after Chicago, "I talked to an ASICS rep and their Blackout shoe is the same one Sara Hall has been racing in as well. It's as close as they can get to the 4% with their stuff, but isn't coming to market for a while according to the rep."
https://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=9649064Good she chopped 4 minutes off her PB though. Obviously some of that was due and not all down to the shoes. Also good to see most companies putting out competitors, even only as prototypes, to the vaporflys.
Inspired
Running is going towards something
It is best enjoyed when we are not trying to just get away
Fight or flight... that is why we shall mount up with wings as eagles
We can run an not grow weary
Ryan and sara literally could out run anyone
Now the 6 of them. Ryan can fight and sara can can run free and both lead their daughters into glory
