This is a crazy story. So as I'm reading around the internet this morning I see a couple of places that a father/son combo set a father/son marathon WR in Frankfurt of 4:59:22.. When I saw that the time I must admit that I thought,"That's weird.I guess no one has ever bothered to do it but I'd think a father and son could run much faster than that. I assumed the record meant the two had to run the race together."
Then I realized the record is for total time and was blown away.
Then I was really blown away when I realized the father - 59 year old Tommy Hughes - who competed at the 1992 Olympics for Ireland - led the way and ran 2:27:52. 2:27:52 at 59 is an age 59 world record. He son Eoin ran 2:31:30.
And yes, they were wearing the Vaporflys as shown in the facebook photos.
