What an outstanding performance for the former Olympian (1992) from Northern Ireland! He ran 1:14:12-1:13:40 at Frankfurt which equates to a 2:02:09 performance for an open runner. And I believe he turns 60 in January 2020. Absolutely amazing!!!

Guinness is good for you!
2:27:52 is astonishing at that age. He has a best of 2:13, and more recently he had run a 2:30.
Ok that is awesome.
Amazing. I'm 59 and hope to break 4 hours next week.
So the guy had a major surgery fairly recently, frankly looks like crap, an yet cranks out a marathon at 5:4x pace at nearly 60? Well kiss my blarney stone.

Yes, it is amazing. To lose only 14 minutes in the marathon between ages 31 and 59 - nearly thirty years. It is hard to believe. Literally.
What shoes used?
I ran next to him and he was wearing Vaporfly Next.
BUT the female winner (in 2:19) was wearing adidas
Seems to be only 3rd on the all time 55-59 list. These guys never slow down (much). If he does it again next year, he can rip up the world 60-65 record of 2:36.

You could have at least given us the two guys ahead of him on the list! I find 2:27 to be amazing at 59 years of age.

It is Ed Whitlock territory. 102% age-grade.
I wonder what Bekele can do in 22 years
A poster above said that his performance is equivalent to 2.02 age-graded. That's Kipchoge/Bekele-class. So we might assume they would be no faster than him when they are his age - which would still make them the best in the world at 59. But that would mean they would lose 25 minutes from their prime. He has lost only 14 minutes in 28 years. Is he really that good? Is anyone?
Not impressed

He'll be the next Ed Whitlock if he doesn't have major injury or anything like that.

This. He was 10 minutes behind the first female.

He should have been faster as a young buck. And you should have been smarter.
