Gerry's former 2mi record was on a wooden indoor track that took 11 laps to complete a mile. Gerry was an incredible athlete and his effort should be appreciated, but don't you think he probably had a bit of an advantage over most other 2 milers by competing on that track? My logic is that the constant turning probably made him go faster because he probably had to lean a lot on the turns, carrying momentum. Kind of like those vortex bank things you see in malls where you drop a penny in and as the hole get's narrower, the penny gains speed. Can a shorter track with lots of turns make a track "faster"?
