Has anyone actual scientifically studied this?

What *dangers* are you referring to?

he is referring to the illusion of being fast when D3 runners are actually just mediocre.
Yeah, D3 is a joke, they don't even produce Olympic Trials Qualifying athletes.
Oh wait.
I've never seen a D3 runner ever beat an almighty, scholarship wielding, VERY VERY fast D1 runner.
Oh wait.
Nick Symmonds ran DIII
So what "scientific studies" are you referring to?
Should you tell your daughters to attend a high powered Division I school where every moment of their life is highly scrutinized - from their weight to their diet to their sleep to their boyfriends?
Should you tell your daughters to attend a high powered Division I school where their scholarships will be threatened almost montly because they're failing to produce fast enough times despite being 100% committed to the program?
Yeah. Might want to avoid those super nasty D3 schools.
OP runs for one of these schools

That's right. Everyone just take a chill pill now. Nobody is saying that D3 girls are slow. I think the OP was merely referring to the correlation between D3 and cankles.
My niece ran DIII and beat all the local DI runners recruited over her.
Agreed, there simply hasn't been enough science to show that DIII is not dangerous, physically and psychologically. The vast majority of DIII programs religiously follow high mileage Tinman training, which I find to be brutally degrading to my family's muscles and tendons. I am a firm believer in low mileage, high intensity reps on the track, which has been shown to reduce injury rates and elicit optimal performance.
Furthermore, the vast majority of DIII schools are liberal extremist campuses, which have been shown to be extremely dangerous to many, prone to violence and of very low educational quality. I would never let my daughter run DIII or attend a liberal school.
There are many strong, conservative, christian, southern DI schools that she can attend (Liberty U, Stamford, The Citadel, Mercer, Wofford, Bob Jones, Berea, Alderson Broaddus, EMU, Covenant, Centre, Lipscomb) where she can not only study engineering but also be taught strong moral character.

Centre is D3, as is Berea. Neither is "Christian", as far as I know.
be careful my daughter once did a D3 and now she just parties hard and trains hard and this past semester i caught her posting on the face book about how much marijuanas she had taken and you know it is a slippery slope my friend do not let these heathens poison your mind

Yes it is a fabrication of your moth hole ridden brain. Smoke some more doobie, bro.
the dangers is real wrote:

The finesse of this troll is underrated. The satire is real though. I know some of these guys you wish were fictional but they're real, and they're allowed to vote just like everybody else.
This guy gets it. Nobody parties and trains harder than D3 girls.
But don't let your daughter find out, or she'll be going hard in a train with some LAX Bro's before you know it.
Fun thread, but does anyone seriously have any idea of what the OP was referring to?
I was a volunteer with a D1 program and now do the same with a D3 program, and haven't seen any dangers.
If it was joking/trolling, I'm missing something.

You can count on two hands the number of D3 runners who have made US national teams over the past 40 years.
Symmonds
Leer
Buttry
Rock
McElligott
Mayer?
Henderson?
Lave
Paranya
Sell (this is pushing it - 1yr @ Messiah)
Maybe a few more. That's it.
D3 is about as competitive as a 2nd tier D1 athletic conference. No more.

D3 girls have a reputation for partying hard and engaging in lots of sex. Of course, one person's idea of "danger" is another person's version of "awesome".
This is what he's referring to:
