LEAVE NIKE ALONE!!!!
I don't know if I can say I really hate them. I do agree the Meb treatment was pretty darn bad.
For me, they're just a giant thing in the sports world that I don't pay much attention to. Kind of like the Yankees and whoever won the Super Bowl over and over again and all that kind of stuff. Nike is surrounded by a lot of hype (some of it warranted) and they attract all the sycophants out there.
It also just so happens that all the athletes I really like following, are not Nike athletes. And I don't think that is a coincidence.
Yes, Nike the best running shoes I ever had. It's like slippers... every model I'm sure
They are the evil empire of the running industry. They are too dominant and have too much influence.
And they made Colin Capernick the face of an idiotic and distasteful ad campaign.
And now their next% and alpha% are taking running in a direction that violate the fundamental spirit of what running should be about. Running should be simple, and I don't want it to be about who can afford the tallest clown shoes.

For the most part I can't say that I'd care. But it really is kind of annoying how such a huge majority of top runners are Nike athletes. I mean, that's where the money is, so that's how it's gonna be. I just don't like how the narrative of running as a sport is driven so visibly by one company.
I don't think a corporate entity should have its logo, the swoostika, on any national team gear. Like separation of Nike and State dude.
Also, Doping,
As far as their dominance- they earned it.
Every shoe company has the opportunity to market themselves the way Nike did to get where they are now.
I like NB, they seem to be making inroads.

.
What a wonderful world it would be.

Their company was built on the falsehood that you need to run on a cushiony shoe.
The story that the original Nikes were made on Bowerman's waffle iron is a lie. Knight started his career as an Asics Tiger salesman.
They've now got people arguing about their latest "energy return" nonsense, instead of laughing at it. They were already doing this 30 years ago with the "air" gimmick that made people think they could jump like Jordan.

I must be a lot older than you BW , but your narrative is BS .
I purchased my first pair via an 800 in the late 70s .
Reps would show up at XC camps and sell them out of the back / trunk of their vans / cars .
I did return my first pair for repair .
Nike complied .
They were more road racing flats and I ran XC.
I went to Adiddas Gazelles .
Great shoe and handsome - similar to Cierpinski's at Montreal 76 but heavy and did not take into consideration any difference in pronations .
Went back to Nike in 78/ 79 - yes that 's when he had to make our sneakers last .
Nike won me back .
Work policy , politics ,expansion to other sports etc . - that is another topic .
I love their shoes ..
I bet most young ones here do not know that PK started this as a running shoe company .
I'm off my soapbox now .
Run ( if you can )!!!!
I can't anymore
They made Kara Goucher sad.
Because intentionally or not it seems they are trying to make running all about shoes. Expensive shoes that do the work for you.
They are a fashion company selling their vision of how athletics should be. Using design to give the impression of great technological advancement.
When they could be using their resources to design and manufacture inexpensive shoes which fit better, last longer, and encourage long term athletic development.

and what they were selling was rebranded Asics Tigers from Japan.
If you're gonna say I'm talking BS, come up with something better than vague anecdotes. Or better yet look it up on the newfangled interweb and find out how the facts differ from your fading memories.
Sweat shops, Kapernick, and NOP.
Because they are not really a "company" but rather a licensing company. They have no consistency and just have rnadom shoes made and slap logos on them and charge a bunch.
If they charged a bunch but were dedicated to creating great footwear i wouldnt mind.
If they were cheap and just a logo company i wouldnt mind.
But not both.
Vice President Pence said Thursday the US supported the protesters, who have warned of encroaching influence from the central government in Beijing on their semi-autonomous status.
"We stand with you, we are inspired by you. We urge you to stay on the path of non-violent protest," Pence said.
The NBA controversy threatened Nike, the NBA's official apparel partner, which has relied heavily on the Chinese market for sales growth in recent years.
In the midst of the spat, some Nike stores in China had pulled Houston Rockets sneakers and other merchandise from their shelves, according to a report from Reuters. Losing out on sales of that gear could be especially problematic for Nike, as the Houston Rockets had been one of the most popular NBA teams in China thanks to Chinese player Yao Ming's eight-year career there.
In his speech, Pence called Nike's decision to pull Rockets merchandise a move "to join the Chinese government in protest against the Rockets general manager's seven-word tweet: 'Fight for Freedom, stand with Hong Kong.'"
Nike, Pence claimed, "promotes itself as a so called 'social-justice champion" but prefers "checking its social conscience at the door" when it comes to Hong Kong.
Glad Nike supports Kaepernick, as police suck ass and need to be eliminated.
Don’t like them for supporting sleazy Al and selling running hijabs. Get the f out of here with that crap.
