Not sure if there’s a thread on this or not but does the Hoka Carbon X do the same as the vaporflys in terms of running economy/return. Do they give back 4% or is it smaller? Same goes for new balances carbon shoe and others.

I own several 4"% pair and one pair of Carbon X . Have done tempos and races in both. The Hoka do not even come close to the give back as the 4%. I now just do moderate training runs in the Carbon X because and leave the Nikes for race day.
It has a carbon plate, but the Hoka foam is nowhere near as bouncy as the Zoom X.
Also the extreme rocker detracts from the toe off phase.
The Carbon X might be the hardest shoe I have ever tried on. Maybe the most uncomfortable 10 seconds of trying on a shoe for me
Just holding that shoe made me uncomfortable. I physically cringed, set it back on the shelf, and bought a pair of Kinvaras.

if you had only ever tried on other Hokas...then yeah the carbon x is a hard shoe. but really...it's not that firm. plenty of cushioning for long distance running. heck, they're made for the 100k basically.
I wouldn't say they're "made for 100K." I think you're supposed to marathon in them, too. But yeah, they are not in the ballpark of what Nike made. You can put more miles on these, which is a plus, and they're a super responsive workout shoe. But they're not cheaterFlys.
