30 years old. Could I run a 66min half-marathon in a year?

No, if it takes you a year that's by definition a lot longer than 66 minutes. In fact you'd be about the slowest half marathoner ever.

I was able to do this over the past few years. First race back I ran my slowest 10K ever in 35 min. 1.5 years later I ran mid 14s for the 5K. It took me until 30 to figure out my injury problems, after that everything else fell into place. If you've never been able to maintain a consistent year of running what makes you think you can do it now?

With that kind of base and talent it`s an easy mission for me to take you to sub 1:10 half ....then we will see how close to 1:06

Totally possible. I went from a PR of 1:13 to 1:05 in a year of serious training (also 15-flat to 14:1x and 31-flat to sub 29:30). That being said, I wasn’t really training when I ran 1:13 (maybe 40 miles per week).

How I did it (no surprises here):

100-120 miles per week

12 runs per week

3 workouts with an easy long run or 2 workouts with a progressive long run.

Build up the miles, run hard every couple of days, find a good race. Rinse, repeat, listen to your body and take time off when you feel an untypical pain/soreness come on.
