Doubt the benefits would surpass the benefits of spikes.
Perhaps @ Balboa where the course is mostly hard pack, but even then, the downhill onto grass with high speed turn at the bottom would be sketchy on Vapors.
I know of two boys who used them at CO State xc championships two years ago, where one of them won. ... Again, a hard pack course. Wasn't prefered choice, but chose because recovering from stress fractures and erred on the side of cushioning.
NXN?? Not a chance they'd be an advantage on the swamp grass there.
Spikes FTW.

Nobody is going to choose road shoes for their sub 4 attempt.
Track spikes for the 400 are prefered choice for 800 & mile.
Nobody is racing or training fast in jogging shoes. ....Even if Eliud is running 4:20ish pace in them. Thats jogging for milers.
Maybe 5k and up??
We have reached the peak of stupidity with these posts about the Vaporfly.
Spikes have had plastic plates (similar to the dreaded “spring” inside today’s flats) on them since the 80’s. Several companies over the last 10 years have even replaced the plastic with carbon fiber (identical to the dreaded “spring” inside today’s flats). This type of technology coupled with pebax foam has been used for years in track and even in road racing flats, so the fact that it’s causing such an uproar now is laughable.
Shoe technology has improved consistently for years as companies try to help athletes run fast (and sell products). Where do you draw the line? Only shoes produced before the 80’s. Only shoes made of leather and rubber. Barefoot.
This argument is ridiculous.

So are you going to answer the question or nah?
