I'm thinking about doing it. Any first-hand experience?

Brigid Kosgei jogged a 2:14 in Chicago. That's my warmup pace.
I did just yesterday...in between each of my 600m repeats.
I saw a dude riding a motorcycle wearing a pair of them about a week ago (the dude was not wearing a helmet). Does that count as misuse?
No, but i've got diamonds on the soles of my shoes.
I watched the Chicago marathon and let me tell you there were plenty of people jogging in VF. A sea of green. Thousands of dollars wasted.
thats a big no-go

I went running on the lakefront the day before, same thing. People were everywhere in running outfits that probably totaled up over $400 or even $500 on their way to run a 3:45 in VPF.

Hahahaha. I love mocking people that have more money than me and are trying to stay in shape despite being adults with full time jobs. What loosers(SIC)!

Eh. I don't think they're losers. But it is funny to spectate on the effectiveness of marketing on the masses. Not even saying I'm exempt.

Saw a couple of VFs in the crowds at INEOS 159 as well
I'm pretty sure I saw them on a middle aged guy the other week, and appeared to be fitness walking on a bike path. They were bright pink Nikes and had a thicker than average sole. I don't know if they have a fitness shoe with similar colors.
The scientific reviews of the shoe say that they are of no benefit unless you are running 650 milrs or faster. It requires that speed for your foot to roll over the sole plate and activate the recoil.

source?
I won’t even break into so much as a canter in my 4%.
Sometimes I wear them around on weekends. I might turn them into river shoes because they’re so gooey and may wrap around stones nicely.
First run out of the box was an easy 8 to break them in a bit.
Found out they don't need broken in and I just wasted 8 miles they had in them.

so what?
office monkeys spend $250 on a pair of dress shoes but they ain't Warren Buffett
ugly women spend loads more than that on purses, freaking ten pairs of boots, jackets they wear only occasionally, makeup, haircuts, nail salons, etc.
think how much people spend at Starbucks per year when they can make their own damn coffee at home
$250 for running shoes is not that big of a deal. in fact, if this gets you out the door it probably pays for itself in health benefits
I don't' have a pair, but I don't blame anyone no matter how slow they are
The problem is that Next% completely messes up your running form at jogging speed.
I mow my yard in mine. Big yard, saves about 5 minutes over other shoes.
