I predict he’ll make the final and get 6th ... 5th if El G doesn’t run.

el g is not running.
1st-3:24.92
Make the final and finish 8th; not bad.
If he makes the final, he'll finish higher than 8th. He's too tough and too determined not to.
It seems very wide open this year. El G not being in the race changes the whole thing- the focus will be off him. Webb could win it all! How about an all American and European podium?!?!?!
I think El G being out hurts his chances of finishing high.
I like Webb more in a long, drawn out kick rather than a late 400m dash.
He needs to stay in lane 1 for the first 2 laps to have any chance of doing well.
I agree that being in the top 8 would be a good job.

hahaha are you on crack? He's sure to hit high 3:23's no matter what.
5th or 6th place, 3:31 high, new PR for Webb
I am going out on a limb here and saying he will crack 3:20

3:20 could happen on a good day under the right conditions. But I believe in the guy and early projections indicate he could pull off a 3:19.16.

3:31??? In a championship race without El G? no friggin chance. Winner goes 3:34 at the fastest, and that is being generous.
i bumped into Webb on a training run and he said there is no way he will run slower than 3.20. He said that the only way he would run slower is if the africans checked, boxed and blocked him too much. I was amazed, but he was dead certain that if the conditions were right he could lead the final for a 3.18 high win. I questioned if he could do that after the heats and he said he is so stong right now he often compares himself to bekele with the speed of Borza. God lcuk to him. Personally i think hes full of shit....to be honest i don't think hes capable of anything faster than 3.32.
With a WC, sans El G and Lagat, you have to ask yourself, exactly who's going to push the pace? Perhaps someone like Ramzi, but this could be a setup for Rui Silva off a slow pace. I think Webb has a chance at 2nd or 3rd if the pace is fast enough, but not against Silva and Heshko in a purely tactical race.
BTW, four people seem to be calling for Webb to run between 3:19 and 3:25. Has it occurred to you that the WR is 3:26?
Out in round one
Has it occurred to you that they're joking?
3:34 is very generous. The last two olympic games had el g and resulted in a OR and a near record- both at around 3:34 I believe. My bets are that it turns into something more like the world athletics final and just is a screw around and sprint coming in a round 3:40.
Webb will win, Rob Myers will be in the mix in a tactical race.
Everybody's in the mix in a tactical race.

Same here. I saw him running a block ahead of me, so after a couple of minutes I strided up next to him. He didn't talk because he was too winded. So I said screw it and paced it by him. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
