The 23 mile drop out seems odd, especially if, as his agent says, the calf had been tight for 17 miles. He went through 35 K in 1:46:45. His last 5 K was 16:11. If he held that for the last 7 K he runs 2:09:23, not a terrible performance for him , puts him ahead of Farrah and 7 or 8th overall. He couldn’t gut out the last 3 miles or had he blown up that bad in the kilometer since he crossed the 35k mat.? Fishy .

Farah would have raced a sub-70 final 500m if that is what Farah would have needed to beat Rupp. There was no way Farah was losing to Rupp yesterday.
