It won't be "official" though, only running 26.2 miles in OVER 2 hours is official at this point.

Why didn't they just get a treadmill and tie him to the front of the treadmill? It is the same thing, but a lot easier to set up. High end treadmills have plenty of speed for this. Plus you could put padding behind and around the treadmill for safety, you cant do that on the open road.
I'd run up, open the back door, hop in and have a nice long nap until we got home.
