It surprises me how in just a couple weeks I’ve become more of a Bekele fan. This second attempt with even more enhanced shoes and continuing to say that this is for humanity? Humans aren’t limited? Then why not break 2 in Berlin or even NYC? I confess I didn’t know until watching the INEOS documentaries that he spends so much time away from his family and wanted a wife that was “not as talkative.”
I’ve gone from big Kipchoge fan to disliking him

You do know he's faster than Bekele in a proper race, right?

Oh please. He is the greatest marathon runner of all time, amazing win/loss record, a world record and several other top times, and now the first sub 2 hour marathon in history. He could break 2 or come very close in Berlin with someone like Bekele in the race with him.
And really? Being attracted to a quieter person is wrong somehow? Why don't you go look for something else to feel offended by. -
The shoes don't matter, it is all just a huge marketing play by Nike. Now they gonna say it was the shoes that made him run sub 2, sell the shoe for $350 and everyone is gonna buy it so they can break 3:30 and 3:00.
Hobby joggers will be faster once again but not due to the shoes being faster but due to placebo-effect - literally no 3:00 marathoner runs at their absolute limit, meaning if he would run 2:59 he would pass out before the finish. With the shoes the get the mental boost that they can run faster and run 2:56, and their absolute physiological limit might still be 2:50. -

They already are. I see so many people running with it, and so many people in general shifting to Nike shoes. -

Hi bloke
You do realise that that bit about the wife being 'quiet' is stupid! Right? -

Why should we be impressed? -

No one actually gives a flying one whether you're impressed, little one. -
whats interesting is he immediately mentioned "the 4-min mile barrier" in 1954 as a comparision. Maybe even landing on the moon too. Nike in the US cares about the 4:00 mile. And a few people in the UK.
Dude, what about the 13:00 5km barrier?
What if Bekele was in this event too?
I would be much more impressed if he ran a 2:03 at NYC.

Apparently some people are surprised that we are not impressed. The answer is simple, we are not impressed because Kipchoge was set up to succeed, and therefore he had way more chances to do it than not. It was not a sport performance, it was a scientific experiment.
He could have done it on a threadmill for I all care it would have been the same effect. -

I was more impressed by his actual World record in a real race.
I will repeat, why should I be impressed by an scientific experiment in Kipchoge beating 2h with absolute perfect conditions, mechanical help, human help and closely controlled set up ?
We have understood that sub 2 hour was possible to be run under the right conditions 2 years ago. So there is nothing new with this freakshow.
Gatlin beating the 100m record with added wind had you impressed as well ?
