Did anybody else pick up on this? In the NCAA mile and 800m it seems that the 2nd heat runners have an unbalanced edge over the first heat runners. Since they are taking 2+2+4 or 3+3+4, the 2nd heat runners can see what time the 1st heat runners have run, then pick up the pace accordingly. People finishing 3rd in the 1st heat of the 800m like Jesse O'Connell do not make it, while somebody finishing 6th in the 2nd heat does. Maybe they should think about splitting it up with 4+4 or (more unlikely) keep the 2nd heat runners in an isolated room until just before their run, so they don't have the unfair advantage of knowing what to run.
