What is considered a fast 200m time for a high school boy and what's about the average time?
Average student: probably about 36-45 seconds.
Fast for a student: 32 seconds or less.
Average on track team: probably 26-31 seconds.
Fast on track team: 24 seconds or less.
Average for all HS boys is probably in the 33-34 seconds range (or it was when I was in HS). Enough of them are in some kind of sport that requires decent speed (30 seconds or better) so as to make up for the occasional sluggard who couldn't run 60 seconds with a werewolf chasing him at 61 pace.
Average for HS boys who actually race the 200 is probably about 24-ish seconds.
I'd say a HS boy who runs 22 or under is fast.
Under 21 is extremely fast - a real blue chipper.

21.5 - awesome
23.0 - good
24.5 - average
26.0 - pretty bad
27.5 - borderline embarrassing
In the American high school boys universe, these times would have 800m equivalent values of:
21.5 - awesome - 1:51.8
23.0 - good - 1:59.4
24.5 - average - 2:07.2
26.0 - pretty bad - 2:15.2
27.5 - borderline embarrassing - 2:23.4
